But when i boot up Clonezilla it cant find even find the RAID drive(s) so Im not going to go further to attempt to restore the image.
Clonezilla Software Raid 0 Driver To TheAny idea if this is supported I saw there is a way to add a driver to the Clonezilla boot cd.Anyway looking for some advice, Id even settle for a way to do it where Id have to delete the RAID volume via Intel RST be4 boot-time, adding it to a non-RAID disk, then converting to RAID0 afterwards.
![]() You should be able to use it to image many hard drives in a single machine, just a little more work to get started that I think would pay off for you in the long run. Clonezilla has worked wonderfully with the onboard RAID, but we need more than 4-ports. We have tried to add several PCIe RAID cards, but to no avail. Clonezilla Software Raid 0 Software RAID TechniquesAs it turns out, Clonezilla doesnt support these cards because they employ software RAID techniques. WHICH RAID cards has anyone used with success with Clonezilla We have not been able to find this answer anywhere. So instead of random ebay trial-and-error purchases, just wondering if anyone had any input or suggestions. We would like to purchase 2 or 3 cards to get at least 10 drives cloning at the same time. Yes, I did run across all those same documents on the Clonezilla site referencing devsda, devsdb, etc. Clonezilla Software Raid 0 Series Boards AreWe need to run hot-swappable SATA drives on this clone machine, and it seems that all those Adaptec AAC series boards are SCSI. The backplane that we are running has 4 hot-swappable SATA ports, which work fine in Clonezilla. So theres no flexibility in which type of drive we use for the end customer. I have actually never used it before this job - so I am still catching up on all the different variants. We tried a few RS2WC040 boards (just to make sure it wasnt a faulty board), as well as a few STLD81200399 boards. With the software raid in Linux you can pull the drives from one system, put them in another Linux system and still be able to use the array. With a live distribution that doesnt have the software management tools installed you wont be able to use it. The goal is to ultimately install it on a hard drive once we know it is the choice we are going with. The thing is, the Clonezilla website specifically states that there is no support for software raid. At all. So we know that is not an option here. The Intel cards implement software raid and do not function once the distro loads. Since you mention it, I guess it doesnt have to be a raid card. The thing is, with this specific distro, finding an HBA card that is supported. We basically have a disk image on a flash drive which gets cloned to hundreds of drives, and ships to the client as part of a larger hardware package. So we dont need any of the redundancy that the raid provides. I havent set one of those up myself so I dont know pain points with it, but youre running a standard Linux server. What I do know is that with a FOG server you generally have a dedicated network with a server provides network boot service to clients. ![]()
